The KCTC CILA department has been operating since 1991. Currently KCTC owns ten CILA homes located in Kankakee, Bradley and Bourbonnais serving 60 consumers. In each home reside 4-8 consumers who are adults with developmental disabilities. Each consumer pays his or her own rent as well as groceries. Each home consists of personnel staff who assist the consumers with their daily living skills.
The purpose of the Residential Program is to provide people with developmental disabilities an opportunity to live in a supported community home environment while providing services that will assist them in becoming independent both socially and economically.
The CILA are homes in the community, which KCTC has purchased, and renovated in order to accommodate the disabled. Each CILA Home has been built to Department of Human Services Standards. Each home is also constructed to meet all the local fire and disaster codes.
