The purpose of the Rehabilitation Program is to provide people with developmental disabilities opportunities for community employment, as well as personal, social, or community services that will assist them in becoming independent.
The rehab department consists of program managers, educators, and seniors. The program managers are the people who have a bachelor's degree in some human service field, and are responsible for all the programming of the consumer's services here at K.C.T.C. Each consumer will be assigned to a program manager who will be primarily responsible for their case, including assigning services, referrals, setting annual plans/goals, carrying out plans, calling special team meetings, set behavior plans, and advocate for the consumer's rights.
The developmental instructors are people who instruct the various topics to assist the consumers in living a normalized life. Some of the classes that are available are:
- Hygiene
- Exercise
- Computer Skills
- Crafts
- Money Skills
- Cooking
- Laundry
- Horticulture
- Health
- Current Events
The requirement for a developmental instructor is high school diploma, but an associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred, and one year of experience working with people with disabilities.
